Chatsworth is accredited under Six Steps to Success, the end of life care programme, and we support residents and their families through the last part of life as carefully as we support the rest of it.
Planning ahead
We talk with residents and the people close to them about what they want while there is still time to talk about it properly. That covers the practical things and the personal ones, including religious and faith wishes, and it means that when the time comes we already know what matters. It also means a resident can stay here, in a room that is theirs, rather than being moved somewhere unfamiliar.
Working with others
We work closely with district nurses, GPs and specialist services so that pain relief and medical support are in place. Our manager has completed a nine month course specialising in end of life care, and our staff train in it every year.
Families
Visiting is open, and it stays open. Families can come at any hour, stay as long as they want, and we will do what we can to make that easier. Afterwards, we are still here, and people are welcome to come back.
These are difficult conversations to start. If you want to have one, call 01752 660048 and ask for the manager.
